April 26, 2023: Eater Chicago After more than three decades of serving red-sauce Italian hits along Grand Avenue, a family-owned restaurant stalwart is beginning an emotional new chapter in West Town. Oggi Trattoria, owned by the Padilla family since its founding in the 1990s, completed its move with a Friday, April 21 debut in a new space at 1461 W. Chicago Avenue.

 

In addition to the usual excitement over the newly constructed dining room and kitchen, the move has special meaning for the family, whose patriarch Samuel Padilla immigrated from Mexico to West Town as a young teen in the 1970s. He and wife Luz Padilla built their lives and raised their sons, Sam and Isaac, in the neighborhood until the early 2000s when they were priced out of the neighborhood." Read more. 

April 13, 2023: Block Club Chicago Do Division Street Fest, West Fest Chicago and Dancing in the Streets are organized every year by the West Town Chamber of Commerce, which partners with local businesses to host the weekend-long events.

 

Do Division will run June 2-4 on Division Street from Damen Avenue to Leavitt Street. Its headliners are W.I.T.C.H (We Intend To Cause Havoc), Bobby Oroza, Dan Deacon, Jesse Royal and Vundabar." Read more.

Povos Gallery Opens In West Town To Showcase Emerging Chicago Artists

March 21, 2023: Block Club Chicago “I have a lot of friends in the West Town art community. And this is kind of the strip now for fine art,” Colombelli said. “People are walking around and actually coming here to see art. … There’s a community around art here that I didn’t feel” in Bucktown."

As Women’s History Month unfolds, West Town Chamber of Commerce (WTCC) has partnered with one of Chicago’s most established independent galleries, Arc Gallery, to transform its office into a multi-use exhibition space to host a women’s empowerment show, “We’ve Been Doing It.”"

January 23, 2023: Block Club Chicago "The Humboldt Park shop is a permanent home for the environmentally-friendly business. Pelc ran a pop-up last summer on Chicago Avenue as part of the West Town Chamber of Commerce’s small business program. That experience gave her the confidence to strike out on her own, she said. “They were amazing. They really help promote your business,” she said."
