Executive Director 

West Town Chamber of Commerce

The West Town Chamber of Commerce is seeking an energetic, community-minded Executive Director to lead one of Chicago’s most vibrant and evolving neighborhoods into its next chapter. West Town is in a period of exciting growth. New businesses are opening, longtime institutions continue to shape the neighborhood’s identity, and community partnerships are creating fresh momentum across the district. We are looking for a leader who is deeply enthusiastic about small businesses, neighborhood development, and the power of local community.

This role is equal parts relationship-builder, strategist, advocate, and team leader. The Executive Director will oversee day-to-day Chamber operations while helping strengthen the connection between businesses, residents, city partners, and neighborhood stakeholders.

 

About the Role

The Executive Director will guide the Chamber’s overall vision and operations while working closely with staff, the Board of Directors, local business owners, and community partners. This person will help continue building a thriving, welcoming, and economically vibrant West Town.
The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, highly organized, and genuinely excited to immerse themselves in the neighborhood and its business community.


Key Responsibilities
● Lead and manage Chamber staff and day-to-day operations
● Serve as a primary liaison between the Chamber and City of Chicago departments, agencies, and funding partners
● Oversee grants, reporting, and neighborhood funding opportunities
● Support and strengthen relationships with Chamber members and local businesses
● Guide neighborhood programming, events, and community initiatives
● Oversee SSA-related coordination and programming
● Work closely with the Board of Directors to advance organizational priorities and long-term planning
● Support marketing, communications, and neighborhood storytelling efforts
● Help identify opportunities for economic development and neighborhood growth
● Maintain an active and visible presence throughout the West Town community

Qualifications
We recognize that strong candidates may come from a variety of professional backgrounds. We encourage applicants who are passionate about community-building and neighborhood development to apply.


Preferred experience may include:
● Community development
● Urban planning or urban development
● Public policy or public administration
● Nonprofit leadership
● Entrepreneurship
● Small business advocacy
● Event or community programming
● Government relations or grant management
